We will continue to Volterra, ancient town of Etruscan origin, rich in history and traditions; sightseeing and a prestigious shop of Alabaster where we will see the various steps of processing and we can admire an exhibition of objects of art. Il Chianti
Departure to Monteriggioni, beautiful medieval village surrounded by imposing walls, mentioned by Dante Alighieri in “the Divine Comedy”. Moving towards Castellina in Chianti, we’ll stop in two prestigious wineries to taste some of the best wines of this area. We will have the opportunity to visit some of the many castles in the Chianti, such as the castle of Brolio, ancient stronghold of the noble family of the Ricasoli family. Finally we’ll stop in one of the oldest monasteries, the Certosa di Pontignano built in the mid 1300S, today owned by the University of Siena.
La Val d’Orcia e Montalcino
Visit to the monastery of Monte Oliveto Maggiore and later on stop in the historic centre of Montalcino where we can admire the imposing fortress.
Lunch in a typical restaurant. We will accompany you in the visit of two prestigious historic cellars to taste the Brunello di Montalcino, one of the finest wines in the world.
Finally we will accompany you at Sant’Antimo, one of the most beautiful Romanesque churches, where it is still possible to immerse yourself in the suggestive atmosphere of Gregorian chant. The Val d’Orcia offers enchanting landscapes that we can admire along the old road to Rome, the Cassia.
We will stop in San Quirico, small medieval center where you can also enjoy an old product as saffron. We will continue to Pienza, the Papal city, a jewel of Renaissance art where we will taste typical products, among which the pecorino di fossa cheese (ripened under ground with Walnut leaves) and truffles. Possibility of stay even in the hot springs of Bagno Vignoni.
